How much is road tax?

The amount is set by the Belastingdienst and depends on the vehicle, the fuel type, the weight and your province. We explain your own letter.

Car Administration

Owning a car in the Netherlands means dealing with the RDW (vehicle registration), a compulsory insurance and the road tax (motorrijtuigenbelasting) from the Belastingdienst.

The rules on registration, transfer of ownership (tenaamstelling), APK inspection and importing a vehicle are set by the RDW and depend on the vehicle and your situation.
